Babak Navak is an Iranian-born composer and musician living in Melbourne, Australia.

Babak graduated from the Australian Film Television and Radio School in late 2015 where he studied an Advanced Diploma in Music Scoring for the Screen. His passion for songwriting and composition emerged years earlier when Babak was the front man for alternative Iranian rock band DASH. In 2009 the band released their debut album Si, which fused heavy rock arrangements with traditional Persian music and poetry. On the strength of that album DASH were invited to perform at the Morgenland festival in Germany.

Since moving to Australia in 2007 Babak has turned his attention to film scoring. In addition to his own solo projects, Babak has composed music for independent films such as Judy, 2015 and My Journey My Life 2013, which was awarded Best Civics, Philosophy & Religion Runner-up in 2014 by the Campfire Film Foundation. Drawing on a diverse range of musical influences including Trent Reznor, Arvo Pärt and Jóhann Jóhannsson, Babak's personal style is characterised by brooding soundscapes overlaid with delicate melodies which encourage introspection.
